On February 14, 2024, the Department of Commerce initiated its less-than-fair-value and countervailing duty investigations on Certain Paper Plates from the China, Thailand, and Vietnam. These investigations have been assigned the following case numbers: A-570-164 and C-570-165 (China) A-549-849 (Thailand) A-552-839 and C-552-840 (Vietnam). Importers should be aware that entries of subject merchandise made after the initiation of an investigation may retroactively be subject to antidumping and/or countervailing duties.

The Office of Trade has issued 'A Guide for the Public: How CBP Sets Bond Amounts'. They have worked with public stakeholders, the Office of Finance, Office of Field Operations, Office of Chief Counsel, and Regulations and Rulings since 2020 to update CBPs' directive from 1991 to reflect current policies and procedures. The joint nature of this endeavor presents an opportunity for CBP and the trade community to continually maintain and progress the bond program in support of CBP's priority to facilitate lawful trade and protect U.S. revenue.
